I love the feel and smell of “real” books (print). In recent years, though, I’ve moved to buying e-books for a couple of reasons. First, I’m a helpless hoarder. I am loathe to give away any books I acquire. E-books help out with that problem as virtual books don’t take up nearly as much acreage. A second reason is that I’ve grown accustomed to being able to adjust the print size of what I am reading. This helps reduce the chance of eye strain and probably postpones the need for reading glasses for a couple of more years. 😀

  4. It’s interesting. I read both print and ebooks equally. But my purchasing habits are different. I buy print books more than ebooks. I think it’s because if I love a book (series) I want to have the print version, and because there are so many free ebooks out there I don’t need to buy as many. However there are some authors I autobuy on kindle.

  9. I like all formats, but holding onto a hard bound book is difficult for me. It’s even more difficult for me to hold open a paperback, but I have a good book holder, so it’s possible. Unless I lose a hard copy or my sight, I will always have my book. I buy many CDs and download them to iTunes, so I can listen on my cell phone. Sometimes I download audiobooks.

  11. I get most of my books from the library. For popular ones, I’ll request both the print and the ebook and read whichever version comes in first.

  12. I still head toward print books whenever possible, but have taken to reading my Kindle in bed because I can turn off the light and it’s easier to hold for long periods of time. I can’t imagine a home with out shelves of real books, but I would truly miss the walking library I hold in my Kindle.

  13. I prefer reading print books, but I got a Kindle/app about 4 years ago, so my ebook collection is rapidly growing. I like to read ebooks when travelling and it’s also useful to find/buy out-of-print books.

I love print books … the smell and feel but read e-books more because as I get older, print books are harder to read and I can change the font size on the e-books. Thank you for this chance!

I love print books , but unless they are large print I struggle to read them . I read e books the majority of the time because it’s just less of a struggle !

I got started reading e-books because the book I wanted to read was only available as an e-book, and it was one of a series I had been reading in print. After awhile I was hooked-partially because our local bookseller closed, and partially because e-books are cheaper, don’t fill my over-flowing shelves, and are available almost instantly. I still buy favorites in print format, and I do get as many library books as possible to save money and kindle space. Honestly, with my arthritis, the kindle is easier to hold than a heavier book. But bottom line? I just want to read!

  23. I love both styles of books, but I have a lot more regular books. However, my favorite way to read right now is on my phone. I have an autoimmune disease that sometimes make my arms weak. I don’t mind turning the pages of the ebook often. You get in a groove.

I’d also like to give a shout-out to libraries! They keep me supplied with a lot books. And librarians are awesome.

  24. I spend more time with my Kindle. If one of my tried and true authors has a new book I signup at the library to get my turn to read it. Being on SS is a bummer.

I like to have a “real” book in my hands especially when waiting with my husband for his dr appts which are many. For the car I love audio books. Had a 120 mi round trip to work for over 9 years – would have gone mad without them to pass the time especially when snow/ice made the journey very long. I do have a Kindle app on my laptop and use it if that’s the only form in which I can get the book. Hubby loves his Kindle.

Thank goodness for 2 wonderful library systems nearby. When I do buy books we have a small group that passes them around, then I donate them to the library.

I like print books and ebooks – downside to ebooks is running out of battery charge. Print books have no downside in my opinion~

Thanks for the giveaway! I’ve been looking forward to reading this series. I used to ride horses when I was younger. I love collecting cozies in print but I also enjoy the convience of my Kindle. I usually read ebooks that aren’t available in print or I buy a second copy as an ebook so I don’t have to pack a suitcase just for my books.

I will always love print books best, there is something about holding the physical book in my hands, smelling the pages, etc… that is a satisfying part of the experience for me! Thanks for the poll, it is fun to see what others think and feel about this as well.

  46. Love horses and stables, would really enjoy reading “Reining in Murder”. I prefer reading real books, especially since some ebooks are the same price as a paperback. Reading ebooks makes my eyes hurt after a little while because I don’t blink enough and my eyes dry out.
