Circle of Influence by Annette Dashofy

Circle of InfluenceCircle of Influence by Annette Dashofy is the first book in the new “Zoe Chambers” mystery series. Publisher: Henery Press, March 2014

Zoe Chambers, paramedic and deputy coroner in rural Pennsylvania’s tight-knit Vance Township, has been privy to a number of local secrets over the years, some of them her own. But secrets become explosive when a dead body is found in the Township Board President’s abandoned car. As a January blizzard rages, Zoe and Police Chief Pete Adams launch a desperate search for the killer, even if it means uncovering secrets that could not only destroy Zoe and Pete, but also those closest to them.

This is a great beginning. In this fast-paced drama, Zoe springs into action when she arrives at the scene and find her BFF’s husband dead in the car of the town’s most hated man. As Zoe sets out to find a murderer, other events conspire to set the town on an explosive course where dark secrets come to life and deadly betrayals will hurt a family more than they know.

The author has struck gold by delivering a wonderful story that tied you up with all sorts of emotions as the activities that lead up to the murder is painstakingly unfolded among the pages in this grippingly engaging tome. Zoe’s fortitude helps her along the way as she finds the strength to take on a killer while protecting her own. This was a good mystery laden with plenty of suspects, that made this story all the more exciting as each scene uncovered took us closer to the identity of the killer. Betrayal, teenage angst, dysfunctional relationship and deep dark secrets will keep you turning the pages in this very enjoyable debut novel.

FTC Disclosure – The publisher sent me a digital ARC provided through NetGalley, in the hopes I would review it.

Too bad we all can’t just read for hours and hours each day, as it would take that much time to get to read all of these wonderful sounding books that we are introduced to. This one sounds like it has tons of adventure and all of those secrets sound like a very intriguing story. Would be happy to add this to my ever growing list of books that I want to read. Thank you Dru, for letting us know about it.
