A Few Words About “Small Town Spin” by LynDee Walker

Small Town Spin 1Good morning, Dru Ann! Life has been such a crazy whirlwind since I was here last month—I can’t believe February is almost over. Between writing, juggling the details that come with an impending book launch, and vacation, it feels like January and February have zipped by.

I am so excited to be back today (thank you for having me!) to share what a few of my favorite mystery authors have said about SMALL TOWN SPIN. Sending a new book out into the world is always nerve-wracking, no matter how proud you are of it. I am positively bouncing that folks are enjoying this one, and I cannot wait for everyone to be able to read it. Just about five weeks to go, y’all!

Here’s the copy from the back cover:

When a superstar athlete’s son turns up dead in a tiny town on the Virginia coast, crime reporter Nichelle Clarke gets the inside scoop. But she quickly spies a gaping hole her inner Lois Lane cannot ignore.
Determined to unravel the mystery, Nichelle fights off paparazzi cameras and an unexpected rival. She uncovers an illegal moonshine operation, a string of copycat suicides, and a slew of closets stacked with more skeletons than slingbacks. Chasing a killer who’s a breath from getting away with murder, Nichelle realizes too late the culprit has her number—and it might be up.

And here’s what folks are saying:
Don’t let the Jimmy Choos fool you, this Lois Lane doesn’t need Superman to save her. Whether she’s juggling the demands of her complicated love life or solving the mystery of two dead teenagers in a small town where everyone knows everyone, reporter Nichelle Clarke jumps headlong into any situation with courage and tenacity, not giving up until she gets the answers she wants. In Small Town Spin, LynDee Walker has given us a female protagonist with guts and smarts to spare. Oh, and shoes. Great shoes.”—Maggie Barbieri, author of Once Upon a Lie and the Murder 101 mystery series

A riveting mystery with big ideas and wonderful characters. Small Town Spin is a treat not to be missed, a fantastic addition to the Headlines in High Heels series.” —Duffy Brown, Agatha Award-Nominated author of the Consignment Shop mystery series

Stop the presses! Small Town Spin makes headlines with a smart, stylish reporter who has a knack for solving mysteries—and winning over readers.”—Elizabeth Craig, author of the Southern Quilting mysteries

You can find the first two Headlines in High Heels books, FRONT PAGE FATALITY (a 2013 Agatha Award nominee for Best First Novel!) and BURIED LEADS, in paperback and ebook format anywhere books are sold. SMALL TOWN SPIN is coming from Henery Press on April 8, 2014.

Giveaway: LynDee has a Headlines in High Heels swag bag and an ebook copy of BURIED LEADS for one commenter today, y’all! I love the Atlantic coast, where a good deal of the action in SMALL TOWN SPIN is set. So tell me, are you a beach fan, too? What’s your favorite thing about the seashore? Contest is open to US residents only and ends at noon EST on February 26.

  1. Absolutely a beach fan here! Love early morning walks on the beach or really, any time of day. I haven’t been on the Atlantic coast much but the Pacific coast is wonderful.

  4. Thanx for the giveaway! I adore this series! I miss the shore so much. I grew up in Rhode Island and summers on the Cape made me plan to settle into a parish out there….however.

Sand, salt, wind and waves. That’s my fav parts of the beach. The people?…not so much ;p. And, definately, east over west coast

I used to love to spend the day at the beach but no more. Even though it is nice and breezy it is just too much for me.

  6. After the winter we are having in the east, and continue to have, I just want to go to the beach and sit, sit and sit some more soaking up the sun and just watch the water! I love walking on the beach, good exercise and the feeling of sand scrunching between your toes….just not a fan of it getting in places it shouldn’t though.

  12. Walking along the beach at sunrise is relaxing and invigorating. How that works is beyond me, but it is. Peace to the mind and exercise for the body, I guess.

  13. A comfortable lounge chair, an umbrella if it gets hot, and a good book and reading while listening the sounds of the beach. I loved the first two books in the series and looking forward to the next one.

I have lived near the Atlantic coast in CT and MA all my life and love the ocean. We used to spend a lot of time at the beach but now that I have to use a mobility device to get around most places, it is almost impossible to get to the beach anymore, and I sure do miss that. I want to try to find sea glass/beach glass and some nice shells to use to make some things for my family, but can’t get to the beach to find them. Disappointing for sure but I have my memories, right??

    🙂

Carletta, I’m with you! I’m SO tired of the snow. Bring on warmth, sunshine, and sand!

Gram, indeed. I find a peace at the beach I can’t replicate anywhere else.

We’re planning a trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina this summer. I can’t wait!

  20. Sue, haha! True. Or dead seaweed/algae. That happens a lot on the Gulf coast in Texas. 🙂

Lisa, I would love to live at the beach someday. My hubby says we’d never get the sand out of stuff. But if you live there, does it matter?

    JJT, me, too! Love it!

Thanks so much, y’all, for coming by and chiming in! And thanks again to Dru for having me—this was so much fun!
