It seems shop owner and newly appointed Whispering Falls Village President June Heal has it all: Beauty, wits, bewitching powers…Sheriff Oscar Park. Life is good. Because life in Whispering Falls is magical.

Cures and Trouble. . .
But when a member of the community is found dead on the steps of A Charming Cure, June’s homeopathic cure shop, and her fingerprints show up at the scenes of local robberies, she is kicked off the village council and her powers fall under scrutiny. Until it’s uncovered who is wreaking havoc on the town…June’s magic is suspended.

Magic Stirs. . .

And Trouble Doubles. . .
Oscar Park will do anything to protect June even if that means giving up all of his magical powers. . .or worse, his life.

Why did it take me long to read the latest in the “Magical Cures” series. This book was a hoot and I had such a good time reading it. I enjoy watching June solve this murder mystery that landed at her door. I love the quirky and eccentric characters that June interacts with on a daily basis. Summer Lightning in Lottawatah by Evelyn David

Summer Lightning in Lottawatah by Evelyn David is the ninth book in the “Brianna Sullivan” mystery series. August 2012

Summer Lightning in Lottawatah is the ninth book in the Brianna Sullivan Mysteries ebook series. A novella-length story, Summer Lightning in Lottawatah continues the spooky, yet funny saga of reluctant psychic Brianna Sullivan who planned to travel the country in her motor home looking for adventure, but unexpectedly ended up in a small town in Oklahoma.

In Summer Lightning in Lottawatah, Brianna fights to save her fiancée Cooper Jackson from Murder One charges. Unexpectedly she finds herself teamed up with Sassy Jackson, her none too thrilled mother-in-law-to-be. The unlikely pair risk life and limb to discover who framed Cooper for the murder of an ex-con. When everything in her life seems to be falling apart, it’s up to Brianna to learn which mortals and which ghosts can be trusted to tell the truth. Big changes ahead. Will life in Lottawatah ever be the same?

There’s always something happening in Lottawatah and this time it is Cooper who’s up the creek…in jail accused of murdering an old nemesis and it’s up to Brianna and Sassy, yes Sassy, to find the killer and clear Cooper’s name.

What an exciting chapter in the world of Brianna. This was a fast-paced and action-filled drama that kept me turning the pages in this riveting tale. This was a good read and I especially loved the scenes with Brianna and Sassy as they nose around for evidence and get themselves into a little trouble. This is one series that keeps me coming back for more adventures with the zany and lovable people in small town Lottawatah. Brianna is such a great character and I love how she is planting roots in a town that she was just passing through. I can’t wait to see what happens next with Brianna and her friends in this terrific series.

A Charming Crime by Tonya Kappes

A Charming Crime by Tonya Kappes is the first book in the new “Magical Cures” mystery series. June 2012

Bubble… Bubble…
June Heal has nothing to lose when she relocates her homeopathic cure shop, A Dose of Darla, from the flea market booth in her home town, to a quaint shop in the cozy but unusual little town of Whispering Falls, Kentucky. Or so it seems.

Cures and trouble…
Whispering Falls has a lot of secrets. From talking snow globes to whispering animals not to mention a few sprinkles of fairy dust, June realizes Whispering Falls is more magical than she thought. . .literally.

Magic stirs…
June discovers she was born into a family of psychics, and her homeopathic cures truly are magical. Unfortunately, they are not magical enough to save her from being the number one murder suspect when a member of the community that she had just had a disagreement with shows up face down in the lake with June’s lucky charm in the victim’s grasp.

And troubles double…
Add to that an attraction to her high school best friend, Sheriff Oscar Park and Mr. Prince Charming, her cat, is stealing charms from Belle’s Baubles, June is forced to clear her name in more ways than murder. After all, they don’t have cauldrons in jail.

June thought she knew her life, that is until she discovers Whispering Falls. In this magical delightful tale, June becomes the primary suspect in the death of a woman she recently met. In order to prove her innocence, June uncovers a mysterious past that exposes a killer and open the doors to an enchanting future. This fast-pace and finely crafted whodunit was a fun read that I enjoyed immensely. A good page-turner that kept me guessing throughout most of the story features a quirky cast of characters that are lovable from June to Eliose to Mr. Prince Charming. I love the village of Whispering Falls and I look forward to more mystical adventures with June and her friends in this charming series.

Good Grief in Lottawatah by Evelyn David

Good Grief in Lottawatah by Evelyn David is the eight book in the “Brianna Sullivan” mystery series. February 2012

In Good Grief in Lottawatah, Brianna’s first day on the job in the town funeral home is full of surprises, including ghosts with complaints and the unexpected murder of Lottawatah’s richest and crabbiest citizen. Now that she’s got a job and health insurance, it’s time to turn up the heat on her romance with hunky deputy Cooper Jackson. But Brianna’s life is upended when her globe-trotting mother descends on Lottawatah, charming all the men in town and even capturing the heart of Leon, the adorable and digestively-challenged bulldog. Can Brianna survive both a killer and her mother? Good Grief in Lottawatah continues Brianna Sullivan’s adventures in Lottawatah, a town filled with more than its share of unruly ghosts and quirky humans.

I love this series and look forward to all the exciting adventures Brianna has with her ghosts. Brianna finally has a full-time job, at of all places, a funeral home and on top of that, her mother arrives for a visit. In this caper, a killer is lurking among the mourners and Brianna gets some unexpected help from all involved. With characters that are adorably quirky, the feel of a small town and entertaining dialogue, this page-turning mystery is a terrific and fun read and like fine wine, this series keeps getting better and better and I can’t wait for my next visit with Brianna and the gang.
