Good Grief in Lottawatah by Evelyn David

Good Grief in Lottawatah by Evelyn David is the eight book in the “Brianna Sullivan” mystery series. February 2012

In Good Grief in Lottawatah, Brianna’s first day on the job in the town funeral home is full of surprises, including ghosts with complaints and the unexpected murder of Lottawatah’s richest and crabbiest citizen. Now that she’s got a job and health insurance, it’s time to turn up the heat on her romance with hunky deputy Cooper Jackson. But Brianna’s life is upended when her globe-trotting mother descends on Lottawatah, charming all the men in town and even capturing the heart of Leon, the adorable and digestively-challenged bulldog. Can Brianna survive both a killer and her mother? Good Grief in Lottawatah continues Brianna Sullivan’s adventures in Lottawatah, a town filled with more than its share of unruly ghosts and quirky humans.

I love this series and look forward to all the exciting adventures Brianna has with her ghosts. Brianna finally has a full-time job, at of all places, a funeral home and on top of that, her mother arrives for a visit. In this caper, a killer is lurking among the mourners and Brianna gets some unexpected help from all involved. With characters that are adorably quirky, the feel of a small town and entertaining dialogue, this page-turning mystery is a terrific and fun read and like fine wine, this series keeps getting better and better and I can’t wait for my next visit with Brianna and the gang.

Missing in Lottawatah by Evelyn David

Missing in Lottawatah by Evelyn David is the seventh book in the “Brianna Sullivan” mystery series. November 2011

In Missing in Lottawatah, Ashley Heyman, the young daughter of Brianna’s best friend, has disappeared without a trace. Everyone is counting on Brianna to use her psychic abilities to find the little girl, but so far she’s drawing a blank. The good news is that it appears that Ashley is still alive, but if so, where is she and who would kidnap an innocent child? Leon, the adorable and digestively-challenged bulldog, is back on the job and can more than hold his own against dogs 40 times his size. Missing in Lottawatah is Brianna’s toughest case yet. The stakes were never higher and the tensions with boyfriend Deputy Cooper Jackson may change their relationship for good.

When a teenager goes missing, she is feared kidnapped and as the whole town searches for her, Brianna joins in the search and is approached by a ghostly appearance who also wants to go home. This was a great story filled with suspense and anticipation as Brianna makes a startling discovery that will determine the two cases that she is investigating. This was a enjoyable read and I look forward to the next exciting chapter in Brianna’s life.

Splitsville.com by Tonya Kappes

Splitsville.com by Tonya Kappes is the first book in the “Olivia Davis” paranormal mystery series. July 2011

Splitsville.com is more than Olivia Davis ever dreamed of when she launched the online break up service where she does the dirty work under the alias of Jenn. No one can find out she’s the mastermind of her internet sensation, especially when they threaten her for breaking their hearts.

More importantly, Olivia can’t keep a job. The problem is, she has a ‘gift’. Or what she considers a curse- reading auras. When a bunch of auras collide, Olivia isn’t able to function. So having an online business works out great.

But when two of her clients turn up dead and puts her company at risk, she’s the first one on the trail. With Splitsville.com future on the line, it’s time to use her ‘gift’ to figure out who the killer is and who’s trying to set her up.

You never know who’s behind the monitor.

When her clients are found dead and fingers pointing at her dot com business, Olivia decides to use her *gift* to save her business. Her *gift* is reading auras and it helps in her determination to clear her name and solve this murders. This was a good mystery that kept me guessing throughout most of the story. With the introduction of lovable characters (Olivia, Aunt Matilda, Bradley and Herbie) and a good plot, I’m so glad that this is the first book in this amusing series.

Lottawatah Twister by Evelyn David

Lottawatah Twister by Evelyn David is the sixth book in the “Brianna Sullivan” mystery series. July 2011

In Lottawatah Twister, a powerful tornado wreaks destruction on everything in its path and stirs up some unsettled ghosts. It’s up to Brianna to figure out whodunnit before the killer strikes again. Leon, the adorable and digestively-challenged bulldog, is back at the center of the action and more than once saves the day – and the beef jerky. Brianna is forced to answer a question that she’s avoided since the day she arrived in Lottawatah: why is she sticking around? Lottawatah Twister has more twists and turns than a funnel cloud, with humor to make you laugh out loud and a romance that will touch your heart.

When a tornado touches down in town, the laundromat where Brianna worked was destroyed and an unexpected visitor makes their presence known. Brianna uncovers more than she realizes and as she gets closer to exposing the truth, someone wants her out of town, permanently. I really enjoy my visits to Lottawatah, Oklahoma. This evenly-paced and action-filled mystery was so good that I could not put this book down as I quickly turned the pages. You never know who’s going to show up and taunt Brianna into solving the puzzle that will send them *home*. What I like most is that with each story, Brianna learns more about herself and the town she has come to love. I can’t wait to read about the next sightings in this enjoyable series.

A Haunting in Lottawatah by Evelyn David

A Haunting in Lottawatah by Evelyn David is the fifth book in the “Brianna Sullivan” mystery series. March 2011

In A Haunting in Lottawatah, Brianna is hired to exorcise ghosts from a mansion. But these spirits defy all the rules; a murder confuses the plan; Leon the bulldog continues to run interference as long as he has his beef jerky, and Deputy Cooper Jackson has competition for Brianna’s affections. A Haunting in Lottawatah is a “must read” for mystery lovers and aspiring ghost hunters!

Needing the money and not sure of what to do, Brianna takes on the case of the haunted house. The fun begins when she spends the night at the house with things that go bump in the night. This was a funny scary ride that I enjoyed as Brianna plays ghost-buster and flies by the seat of her pants. A good read that will have you looking behind closed doors.

Undying Love in Lottawatah by Evelyn David

Undying Love in Lottawatah by Evelyn David is the fourth book in the “Brianna Sullivan” mystery series. January 2011

In Undying Love in Lottawatah, as Valentine’s Day approaches, Brianna is hired by the local police to help solve an arson/murder case. She’s also got family problems. The ghost of her great aunt keeps pressing Brianna to find out what happened to Harry, her long lost love. In her spare time the reluctant psychic tries to figure out her own love life and her relationship with Detective Cooper Jackson. Is he reason enough to stay in Lottawatah?

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and Brianna was deciding whether to stay in Lottawatah, that is until her long deceased relative comes back searching for a beau not forgotten. Brianna is also hired by the police to use her limited ability to help solve a murder case and becomes more involved than she anticipated. What I like about this short story is that with we get to learn more about Brianna and I like that she’s being true to herself, especially with her feelings toward Cooper. This was an enjoyable read and I look forward to Brianna’s next adventure.

The Holiday Spirit(s) of Lottawatah by Evelyn David

The Holiday Spirit(s) of Lottawatah by Evelyn David is the third short story in the “Brianna Sullivan” mystery series. November 2010

‘Tis the season to be jolly and the ghosts of Lottawatah are determined to horn in on the holiday revelry. In “Giving Thanks in Lottawatah,” Brianna Sullivan must find an engagement ring that has been missing for 35 years, deal with the mother of her boyfriend who is holding a grudge because Brianna almost killed her with crab dip, and wrangle family ghosts to give up old secrets and enjoy the holiday. For a story to die for and some laughs that will leave you gasping for breath, check out “Giving Thanks in Lottawatah.”

There won’t be much to celebrate at Christmas for 14-year-old Tim Cramer unless Brianna can find the killer who framed his father for murder. Her best witness? The dead man himself. But getting a ghost to spit out the information she needs is never easy. Instead, Brianna must use old-fashioned detective skills to find the real killer and bring holiday joy to Tim and his family. For a heartwarming, but mysterious holiday story, with Brianna’s signature humor, enjoy “Bah Humbug in Lottawatah.”

What would the holidays be without ghostly spirits. For many years, the family wondered what happened to Cooper’s mom’s engagement ring and this Thanksgiving answers will be found. He can’t leave until the guilty man is punished and with Cooper’s help, Brianna will right a wrong. Both short stories will put you in a holiday spirit. My rating: 4 stars

The Dog Days of Summer in Lottawatah by Evelyn David

The Dog Days of Summer in Lottawatah by Evelyn David is the second short story in the “Brianna Sullivan” mystery series. Publisher: Evelyn David, October, 2010

Brianna, still in Lottawattah, Oklahoma, is now being pestered by the ghostly ex-girlfriend of main squeeze Detective Cooper Jackson. The apparition won’t move away from Cooper and towards the light until Brianna figures out who killed her.

Volume 2 of the series, a novella, finds Brianna selling lake lots for a new resort, attending her boyfriend’s high school class reunion where the guests aren’t all of this world, and tracking down a killer (or two). The Dog Days of Summer in Lottawatah has a mystery to die for, characters you’ll love, and sparkling dialogue that will make you laugh out loud. Who knew ghosts could have such a good sense of humor?

Brianna has temporarily settled in Lottawattah to be near Cooper when his dead ex-girlfriend appears. Looks like her death is associated with Cooper’s high school reunion and when a present-day murder occurs, secrets are exposed and justice is sought. I enjoyed this short story with its lively ghosts that only Brianna sees and tries to help them go toward the light. The dialogue is fun and entertaining and I look forward to the next novella featuring Brianna. My rating: 4 stars
