Diane Weatherly: Sleep Heavenly…or Sleep With One Eye Open?

Assaulted Pretzelby Laura Bradford

My name is Diane Weatherly and I see myself as your average sixty-something. I never married but that was always okay with me. I love my books, my Amish neighbors, and everything about my chosen hometown, Heavenly, Pennsylvania.

Now, before you go thinking I must be lonely from time to time, I’m not. How could I be when I look at six to eight new faces across my dinner table every few nights or so? Especially now that my beloved niece, Claire, has come to live with me at Sleep Heavenly, the bed and breakfast I’ve owned for the past twenty years?

I never grow tired of meeting new people and hearing their stories. I never grow tired of educating my guests about the ways of the Amish. And I never grow tired of making sure their time under my roof is memorable, enjoyable, and the epitome of peacefulness.

In fact, the satisfaction of my guests is so important to me, I tend to be a little obsessive about the reviews people post online when they get home. So far, I have a perfect record—five stars across the board on everything from accommodations and location, to food and friendliness.

But that’s about to change.

How could it not with a ransacked room, a murdered guest, and a town full of Amish suspects?

  19. I would guess that a ransacked room and a murdered person might put a damper on people’s reviews of their stays. But it isn’t as if YOU did it? So, they should show some proper restraint and think before they type those words.
