Doing Business With Gigi Fitzgerald by Peg Cochran

Hi! My name is Giovanna (“Gigi”) Fitzgerald, and I appear in Peg Cochran’s new mystery Allergic to Death, first in the “Gourmet De-Lite” series. As the plaque in my kitchen reads I have an Irish temper and an Italian attitude. I used to work as a stylist for a magazine in New York City until my (no-good, cheating, miserable, wretched) ex-husband took off with an older woman! My best friend from college, Sienna Paisley, talked me into moving to Woodstone, Connecticut where I’ve opened my own business—Gigi’s Gourmet De-Lite. I cook and deliver delicious low-calorie meals for my clients. I live in a charming old cottage and recently acquired a canine companion—Reg, a Westhighland white terrier.

Everything was going quite well (even if my checkbook didn’t always reflect a positive cash flow) when Martha Bernhardt, local restaurant reviewer, dropped dead from a peanut allergy. Detective Bill Mertz (who is drop dead gorgeous by the way, even if something of a stiff) thought I was responsible! Honestly!

Sienna and I ended up investigating on our own, and you wouldn’t believe the nest of worms we uncovered in this quiet little town. I hope you will read my story when it debuts on August 7. I think you’ll love Woodstone and all the great people here—Evelyn who runs Bon Appetit, a gourmet cookery store; Deirdre who manages the local dress shop; Carlo and Emilio who own Al Forno, a wonderful Italian restaurant and Alice who works part-time at the police department. We all hope you’ll stop by for a visit and help us track down Martha’s killer. Because no matter what Detective Mertz says, I had nothing to do with it! You do believe me, don’t you?

** Thanks to the publisher, I have one (1) copy of ALLERGIC TO DEATH to give away. Contest open to residents of the US only. Contest ends August 11. Leave a valid-email address with your comment. The book will be shipped directly from the publisher. **

Meet the author
Peg grew up in a New Jersey suburb about 25 miles outside of New York City. After college, she moved to the City where she managed an art gallery owned by the son of the artist Henri Matisse.

After her husband died, Peg remarried and her new husband took a job in Grand Rapids, Michigan where they now live (on exile from NJ as she likes to joke). Somehow Peg managed to segue from the art world to marketing and is now the manager of marketing communications for a company that provides services to seniors.

She has two cozy mystery series debuting from Berkley Prime Crime— the “Sweet Nothings Vintage Lingerie” series, written as Meg London, set in Paris, Tennessee and the “Gourmet De-Lite” series, under her own name, set in Connecticut. She also has two ebooks on Amazon, a mystery, Confession Is Murder and a young adult book Oh, Brother!

Peg has two daughters, a step-daughter and step-son, a beautiful granddaughter, a cat named Frazzle and a Westhighland white terrier named Reggie. You can read more at www.pegcochran.com and www.meglondon.com.

Books are available at retail and online booksellers.

I wish Gigi’s Gourmet De-Lite was a business in my town and, no, I do not have a peanut allergy. Wishing you much success, Peg, and I will be reading this first book in your series soon.

  15. Lynette, yes, there are recipes! And I have a Westie who just happens to be named Reg. He insisted on being in the book–he considers himself my muse! (He sits next to me in my big cushy chair as I write and whispers plot ideas to me.)
